Checkerboard Barriers Attenuate Soil Particle Loss and Promote Nutrient Contents of Soil

In the arid and semi-arid regions of world, checkerboard barriers play a vital role in ecological restoration. However, improvement soil quality later stages lattice barrier-laying is an issue that not yet known. This study selected dunes lined with Salix psammophila (SL) high-density polyethylene (HDPE) desert zone zone, no-barrier were used as control area. We assessed properties different dunes’ windward slopes using combination particle size characteristics nutrients to build index (SQI). The laying has positive effect on accumulation fine particles quality. It ultimately leads increase fractal dimension 0–2 cm 2–4 layers. SQI show consistent trends. dune types follows order: SL (0.22) > HDPE (0.14) CK (0.12). also found interaction between through statistical analysis. With comprehensive assessment installed dunes, can provide better restoration benefits.
